I hate to say it, but April is almost gone!  Can you believe just how fast time flies when you’re having fun…or just being a busy person?  May is just around the corner, and that marks the closing month for the Occasions catalog.  There are so many wonderful things in this catalog, and I’m sad to see it go.  Yes, some things will carry over into next year’s annual catalog, but not all of the wonderful things!

This week, the Sisters In Stamping designers are featuring our favorite retiring Occasions products.  If you’ve been following me, I bet you have a good idea of what my  favorite items are already.  But that won’t stop me from sharing!  I love the Picture Perfect Party 6×6 DSP.  It is just so much fun!

These balloons were made to look even more “baloon-like” by using a puffing technique.  To do this, I cut out the image and placed it face-down on my piercing mat.  I gently rubbed the back with a stylus (bone folder works too) until the edges started to curl up a little.  When the entire back was rubbed to my satisfaction, I used dimensionals to maintain the shape and adhere them on my card.

Here is another look at today’s project.  These balloons really are a lot of fun and super easy too!  Give it a try.  Don’t forget to order those items on your wish list that are expected to retire.  Stop by my online store and head directly over to the retired listing.  Stamp sets are guaranteed through the end of the sale period, but embellishments and supplies are only while inventory is still available.

Thank you so much for joining me today.  Now head over to the Sisters In Stamping blog to see what the other designers created with their retiring Occasions favorites!

Blessings,
Jennifer Rawlings

Simple DSP Birthday

One of the easiest way to pull together a beautiful quick-and-easy card is by using Designer Series Paper (DSP)!  And with the new Picture Perfect Party DSP it is even easier to make a bold statement.  This paper has photographic imagery of everything that a good party needs: balloons, hats, donuts—you name it! The designed imagery on the other side makes you party even more! Here is a quick snapshot of each design:

Fabulous Birthday Pinspiration

Tags

Pinterest is one of the best ways to find ideas on your next project.  You can start with an idea on the stamp set or color combination you may want to use, or just start exploring layout ideas without searching for anything in particular.  There is a world of inspiration out there, you just need to start looking!

I started my Pinspiration search with two stamp sets in mind and found this pin for This Little Piggy, and this pin for Tabs For Everything.  From these ideas, I created this fabulous birthday card!

The Picture Perfect Party DSP stack made the perfect base for my card.  I then used a piece of thick whisper white cardstock and placed more dsp and a strip of dazzling diamonds washi tape to the left and right sides, creating a frame for my main image.

My birthday pig was stamped in archival ink and then colored using my Aqua Painter and Powder Pink ink.  The heaviest color was applied in the shadowy areas to give my pig added dimension.  I also added a gold crown from the Tabs For Everything stamp set to the pigs head and fussy cut the entire image for perfect placement on my cardfront.

I’ve got to say that I really love how this card turned out!  I didn’t realize how great the Tabs For Everything stamp set is and just how versatile it could be.  I picked out the relevant words for a birthday event and stamped them in various colors.  I then cut out each word.  A mess of gold thread was laid out on the front of my card and then each cut word was applied “randomly” with Stampin’ Dimensions, used to keep my thread in place.  Finally I added some black sequin throughout the words.
