Washi Tape Stamping

There is a fun stamping technique named Masking (Painters) Tape Stamping.  I like to use washi tape for this technique because it comes in various widths without me having to trim down tape strips to get the right look.

If you’ve not tried this technique yourself, I highly recommend you give it a go.  All you do is tear a strip of tape longer than the cardstock you are stamping.  Directly apply the tape to your ink pad to collect ink along the entire length of the tape.  Next you lay the inked tape across your cardstock and allow the ink to transfer.

You can lightly rub your fingers over the tape to make sure the color transfers completely.  Use the same strip of tape for multiple stamping with the same color.  If you switch colors, use a new piece of tape.

Still going strong – Lovely as a Tree

Stampin’ Up! is finally offering some versatile storage options for your craft supplies.  Whether you have an entire room or a small corner in your home for stamping, your creative space should be tailored to you.  Storage by Stampin’ Up!, provides you with modular storage solutions that let you organize—and customize—your space your way!  Be sure to check it out!

While new things like the Storage by Stampin’ Up! is exciting, even the classics like the Lovely as a Tree stamp set are going strong.  This is one of the earliest stamp sets I purchased.  Many nature/tree images have come and gone, but this one has stood the test of time and continues to be a popular set for stampers.  I wonder if it will continue to stay with us in the next retirement round?

I used glossy white cardstock and stamped the trees in Stazon Ink.  Then I used a variety of sponges and classic inks to paint the landscape with vibrant colors.  The trees were dotted with pink and purple blossoms with Blender Pens.

I trimmed the landscape image into three sections to give my project sort of a window pane effect.  Each piece was then layered with Melon Mambo cardstock and adhered to the cardfront with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Just Breathe Bridge Fold Card

, , , , ,

I’ve been looking forward to trying the Bridge Fold technique, so I was excited that the Sisters In Stamping theme this week focused on this very special fancy fold.  I decided to take my layout inspiration from directly from the SU! annual catalog.  You can see the sample card used on page 161 featuring the Colorful Seasons stamp set.

Just Breathe Bridge Fold Card / Colorful Seasons stamp set / Seasonal Layers thinlits dies / fancy folds / Stampin' Up! / StampinBlessings.wordpress.com

The card base is sized and scored perfectly so that the card can be folded and sent in a standard invitation sized envelope.

Card base:  Cut at 8″ x 4-1/4″; Scored on the long side at 1-1/4″, 2-1/2″, 5-1/2″, and 6-3/4″
Front “bridge” measures 1-1/2″ x 5-1’2″

A bunch of trial and error was used to get the layers of the ocean to sit where I wanted them.  The easiest way to get each layer right was to measure 3″ for the center section, then fold the sides to match up with the card base.

Here are the items I used for today’s project:

6×6 DPS One Sheet Wonder

Tags

, , , ,

Last week, one of the Sisters In Stamping designers created a set of cards by stamping her own One Sheet Wonder.  I was so inspired by her design that I decided to create my own OSW using a sheet of 6×6 DSP.  And since our theme this week is all about Designer Series Paper, it was perfect timing to try out my design.

6x6 one sheet wonder card set / Colorful Seasons Stamp Set / Garden Impressions 6" X 6" DSP / designer series paper / Stampin' Up! / StampinBlessings.wordpress.com

This One Sheet Wonder utilizes the entire 6×6 sheet without any waste/scraps.  No small pieces to throw out or keep hoping you’ll find a use for it later.  Click on a card photo below for a closer view.

The measurements for each piece is as follows:

  • Card #1: 2″ x 3″
  • Card #2: 2″ x 4″
  • Card #3 & 4: one 4″ x 4″ piece cut diagonally from opposite corners creating two triangle pieces
  • Card #5: 3 pieces each measuring at 1″ x 2″

Night of Navy cardstock is used to frame each DSP piece before adhering to my base.  I thought these cards turned out so clean and classy that I didn’t even add any other embellishments.  They look stunning alone or as a set.
