As the temperature gets cooler and the leaves begin to turn colors, my heart sings. I always thought that I enjoyed each of the four seasons equally, but as I get older and learn more about myself, I find that I’m truly happiest in the fall. I don’t know if its due to the weather, all the extra family time we plan together, the great food, or all of it put together. But I do know that I absolutely love the fall!
This week the Sisters In Stamping challenged the designers to design cards featuring their favorite stamp sets from the Holiday catalog. In a previous post I showed off the Seasonal Chums Stamp Set that coordinates with the Seasonal Tags Framelits Dies. This set (purchased with the bundle) is truly a favorite, but I wanted to show off an alternative use than just gift tags. This stamp set offers so many options for fall and winter themed projects!
The fall weather brings harvest and hunting, both activities my family participates in to sustain us over the next year. The card I created today has my boys in mind as they prepare for an upcoming hunt.
My forest was done using the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on green cardstock and the brown ink brayered onto the raised trees. When you try this technique, be sure to lightly brayer your ink, otherwise the open spaces between the trees will get a bit of ink as well! The sentiment is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set.
I used the backside of the reindeer tag as a single sided stamp of a deer looking though the forest. When inking the image, I was careful not to include the bow around his neck, then I used Blender Pens to color him with various browns to achieve a perfectly shaded image. I did use the framelits to cut him out most of the way, but I still used my paper snips to cut around his antlers and trim off where the tag and bow would have gone. Then I applied him to the face of my card using Stampin Dimensionals.
