What makes a good masculine card? When it comes to images, anything featuring nature and or outdoor activities typically do the trick – trees, animals, vehicles, sports, etc. And guys like colors and textures too, so you can’t skimp on the layers and fibers. I’m just careful avoid softening or blinging (is that even a word?) out my cards too much so they don’t outside of the masculine theme. Today’s project is an example of just what I mean.
I kept my colors neutral, but could have easily added a variety of colors and still remained quite masculine. This rooster from the Home to Roost stamp set is perfect for a masculine card. And just because it is a drawn image doesn’t mean he needs to be colored in. He looks stunning stamped in one color on white cardstock, don’t you think?
I love the Wood Textures Designers Series Paper Stack and think it offers a subtle textured detail. For fibers, I used the Copper Trim which is so versatile. It is easy to use and you can keep it thin and condensed or pull it apart for a different feel altogether. On this project, I pulled it apart slightly so that I could show the weaving and make the trim have a jagged/rough effect.
Here are the items I used for today’s project:
Here is one final look at today’s project. Don’t forget to head over to the Sisters In Stamping blog for some fantastic masculine projects and ideas.
