The Everyday Occasions section of the SU! catalog makes it easy to find inspiration and create projects for any occasion – birthdays, thanks, holidays, and more!

For this thank you card project, I am featuring several dies and stamp sets.  The floral frame was created using the Hold on to Hope stamp set and coordinating dies.  I cut out four floral pieces stamped in Pretty Peacock and positioned them around an oval cut with the Stitched Shapes dies.

I stamped “for everything” from the Well Said stamp set and die cut two “thanks” from the Well Written dies in Crumb Cake cardstock.  I layered the two dies together so there was a little more dimension in the sentiment.  Finally, I used dimensionals to place the framed piece on my dsp covered cardfront.

Here is a final look at today’s project.  I’m really pleased how this card turned out.  The floral lined oval creates such an elegant centerpiece that is perfect for any recipient or occasion.

New In Color Collection

The NEW Stampin’ Up! In-Color Collection once again offers the perfect seasonal trends that give depth and balance to the current color collections.  Some find it difficult to come up with color combinations when integrating the new In Colors.  I find the best way to get started is to use DSP for ideas.

Today’s project does just this – I selected the Woven Threads DSP as my inspiration while featuring my favorite in the bunch – Perfect Peacock.

I love how the folded corners create a frame for the circle die cut sentiment piece.  I used the Well Written Dies and Well Said stamp set to make my own greeting.  One thing that may not be noticed is that the “you” cut out was actually done in Purple Posy.  It seemed too light for me, so I pressed it into the Pretty Peacock ink pad to change the color!

Come Sail Away

Stampin’ Up!’s product suites are designed for all crafters, from the most experienced to the beginner.  Products in each suite coordinate perfectly, taking the stress out of combining colors, designs, and accents.

Today, I’m featuring the Come Sail Away Suite.  I love everything about this suite – the color, images, accessories – everything!  There are a variety of sentiments to inspire and celebrate loved ones.

For my card today I stamped the cardbase with Night of Navy and Balmy Blue birds.  The next layer was completed by stamping the lighthouse then using my aqua painters with several classic stampin’ pads to create the landscape.  On a separate sheet I stamped the lighthouse in stazon ink and colored again using aqua painters and ink.

The sentiment was cut out using one of the dies.  I then used the same die to cut out two pieces in Soft Suede.  Those pieces were each cut in half, one horizontally and the other vertically, and then adhered behind the sentiment piece to make the perfect frame.

This suite is fantastic for masculine projects, but it’s not just for the guys.  Ladies love imagery of sailing the sea as well.

Berry Beautiful Stitched Lace

Stitched Lace Dies, Well Written Dies

Today is National Strawberry Shortcake Day – YUMMY!  Of course, the best way to celebrate this day is to devour strawberry shortcake with every meal, but the next best way to celebrate is to use it as our color inspiration for the day.

Today I am featuring a project using So Saffron, Real Red, and Whisper White as my color combination.  These colors perfectly match with our theme for today and are so bright and reminiscent of summer.

Today I created a “Thanks” card and used one of my new favorite dies, the detailed Stitched Lace Dies, as the my focal point in today’s project.  Isn’t it beautiful?!

I’m also using the Well Written Dies for the whimsical flowers and sentiment.  It is important to use a contrasting color when placing a sentiment over the lace cardstock.  Otherwise the words kind of blend into the lace.

The background paper was created by spraying rubbing alcohol on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, then adding drops of So Saffron and Real Red ink on the wet paper, tilting it in various directions to get the flow of color that I wanted.
